Happy New Year from the Junior Fleet!

The Junior Fleet is excited to ring in the New Year with our 2018 Boating Programs offering sailing & powerboating instruction and water access for youth and adults.

The Junior Fleet is excited to continue to offer boating programs to further our mission statement to “support a learn-to-boat program that teaches students the basics of boat handling, seamanship, safety, sportsmanship and friendship. The program strives to develop competence and confidence in our sailors in a safe and fun learning environment to develop boaters for life”.

Summer Program Registration will open on January 5th for EYC members to get first choice and to enjoy the extra Early Bird discount (runs through March 15). We have made some additions to our already popular courses to encourage sailors and families to participate in multiple sessions/courses by offering an increased 10% discount! We have also added a ‘Bay Cruiser’ course for sailors to expand their boating experience by utilizing our entire fleet of sail, paddle, and powerboats to further explore the Chesapeake Bay and its ecology. We look forward again to working with the EYC Green Team to include environmental education in our curriculum to further develop good stewards or our Bay – ‘our playground’. Stop by the Junior Office and pick up Brochures for your friends.

Adults will have more opportunities to get out on the water too...

We have added more sessions to the schedule with continuing Learn-to-Sail program on Wednesday nights + Sunday afternoons utilizing J22s. The earlier course options will allow for continuing Intermediate sessions and additional Introduction to Dinghy Sailing / Racing sessions on Tuesday nights. We hope to also build the EYC Team and Match Racing crews.

US Sailing Safe Powerboat certification courses hosted by EYC also have increased session options starting in May running through October. Registration will open January 5th.

Member Access Program is OPEN now. Basic member access offers use of our fleet of kayaks and paddle boards. Additional fees and preapproval for our Sunfish and J/22s. Members must have experience in the Sunfish and J/22 to access. *Enroll in an Adult Sailing program to get usage certification, build confidence, and friends/crews!

 Join Our Team

The EYC Junior Fleet is now accepting applications for 2018 instructors for both junior and adult programs. EYC currently runs an 8-week summer program, fall/spring high school sailing, powerboat, and other programs. Candidates must be motivated, energetic, and enjoy working with kids and adults. Our training fleet of boats includes Optis, Sunfish, Club FJs, J-22s, paddleboards, and kayaks. We also teach powerboating in 17, 15, and 13-foot whalers. Instructors must be a minimum of 16 years old, and have strong sailing and powerboat experience. Prior teaching experience or working with kids is a plus. All sailing instructor candidates must have Level 1, CPR, and 1st Aid, and criminal background check by start of classes. Instructors In Training (IIT) must be 15 years old by start of program and is a great way to gain teaching experience mentorship. Name a Sunfish! Put your company, family name or honor a friend by naming our Sunfish fleet. Name will remain on the boat for as long as in our popular program.

New Position:  I am very excited to start the New Year as EYC’s Waterfront Manager. I look forward to joining the club management team and the additional waterfront responsibilities to help make EYC the best on & off the water yacht club in the area and beyond!

Welcome to EYC

Not your traditional blue blazer club, EYC is built on activity, on the water and ashore. Our members are involved in a diverse range of boating activities, supported by social events and strong camaraderie. Known for our million-dollar view of the Severn River and Annapolis, EYC also is recognized in the Chesapeake Bay region and beyond as a club capable of managing major championship regattas, Friday night Beer Can races, and everything in between, as well as providing great social networking for cruising, parties, and charity events. It’s all about life on the water, and all about fun.
