J/80 Worlds

The J/80 Worlds Regatta is just around the corner. The excitement is growing toward yet another EYC international regatta. The events surrounding the event are numerous and I remind you to keep an eye on the calendar as well as the VFB and Blast for information pertaining to the event and the impact on the clubhouse and operations. Let’s make this yet another shining example of what our “little club than can” can do!

New Sous Chef

I wanted to take a moment to welcome our new Sous Chef, Matt Crane, to our hard working kitchen staff. Matt brings a broad breadth of experience to the position and we look forward to his culinary contributions. Matt will be assisting Henry, our Executive Chef, in a number of areas in the kitchen and build upon where Larry Harland left off. Please make him feel welcome and, as always, we welcome your comments and requests as it pertains to the menu offerings, so don’t be shy!

 

Private Event Discount through September

It’s hard to think about holiday parties while the weather is so warm but for those who like to plan ahead we are offering a great incentive to hold your business or personal holiday party here at EYC. All members who book a private event in September will receive a 25% discount on the facility fee for use of any available event space in November and December 2014. That equates to hundreds and even potentially thousands of dollars in savings for parties booked in September. Inquiries may be directed to This email address is being protected from spambots. Deck Smoking

It goes without saying that the outside deck is one of the things that our members love most about their club. We ask that all members be sensitive to one another’s enjoyment of this space. Unfortunately smoking can sometimes affect some people’s ability to enjoy their time on the deck. Toward that end we ask that all smokers please be considerate and take your co-members preferences into consideration. If necessary, staff would be happy to relocate you to another area of the deck and of course the lower level lawn is always a nice escape. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Accountant Search

As some of you may be aware EYC is transitioning from Donna Glessing, our former PT accountant, to a new individual. By the time you read this article we should have tendered an offer for a new accountant but we wanted to alert membership of the transition. As to be expected it will take some time for our new person to get familiar with the ins and outs of our member billing and accounting systems so we ask for your patience as the new staff member learns the system. As always feel free contact the office directly with any questions you may have with your statement or any other part of the administration of the club. We appreciate the feedback and it is our goal to fix any issues that may arise in a timely and courteous manner.

Have a Seat!

As promised we have added a seating area in the front of the building for our members’ convenience. This came via a request from some of our members who thought this was a necessary addition. A similar request has also been brought to our attention. We have received word from some of our members that a handrail for the step at the front door would be a welcome addition. Our hard working team of “Fools with Tools” is taking a look at possible alternatives and we hope to have a solution in the near future.
