2015 Annual Meeting
Thanks to all of our members who attended the 2015 Annual Meeting at Loews Hotel. The turnout was terrific and we unanimously welcomed back the entire Board of Governors for the New Year. In my world that is a great vote of confidence toward their efforts in 2014. As many of our members are aware the challenges they faced in 2014 were sometimes great. So congratulations, and sometimes condolences J, to the entire Board for their re-election.
I would also like to take a moment to congratulate Holly O’Hare for being the recipient of the A2B Volunteer of the Year Award. Holly’s contributions to the club have been great and she has worked tirelessly toward making EYC’s junior sailing program one of the best around.
Lastly, I would like to say thank you to Pam Ray for her terrific presentation on behalf of the EYC Foundation. The Foundation is doing a great job and looks to have a fabulous energy and plan of action for 2015 so please take a moment to read about their efforts. Keep up the good work!
The holiday season is upon us and the cheer and good spirit can already be felt here at EYC. Keep a close eye on the schedule for special events at the club such as the Annual Holiday Decorating Party and subsequent Holiday Pot Luck, the EYC Parade of Lights, Gingerbread House Building for kids, Kids First Friday, the EYC New Year’s Eve Gala and the list goes on. Lastly, note that the dining room will be closed on December 16th for a private event but the bar will be open as usual and serving both dining room and galley menus for your pleasure. We look forward to seeing you at your club soon!
We really love our waterfront lawn at EYC…and it shows! The traffic patterns and usage areas have taken a toll after a heavy party season. We recently reseeded in November so please help with the lawn’s success by avoiding the areas that have been roped off to facilitate growth. We get one shot at a healthy lawn and this is it!
Please mark your calendars that the club will be closing to perform maintenance to the clubhouse on Monday, January 5th and Tuesday, January 6th. We will reopen for regular business on Wednesday the 7th but the kitchen will not open until 6pm and the business offices will be closed until approximately 3pm. The bar will open at its normal time. Tasks such as painting, floor refinishing and general maintenance will be on the agenda for the week. If you are interested in contributing to the process please contact the Buildings and Grounds chairperson, Tom Mullan.
Parking Lot Work
Please note that the parking lot will be undergoing a little work in the not too distant future. A sewage line needs to be repaired below the surface which will require temporarily removing a small section of concrete and then re-pouring. The scheduling has not yet been determined and it should not have any significant impact on our membership other than aesthetics while the work is being performed. The parking impact will be nominal (2 or 3 spaces) for a few mid-week days while the concrete cures. We apologize for any inconvenience in advance and will do our best to minimize the impact on our members.
