January 1, 2016:
Happy 2016! The New Year is upon us and I hope all of our members had a joyful and safe holiday with their family and friends.
By now, everyone is surely well versed on the horrible fire that occurred at the Annapolis Yacht Club. As you may also be aware in the spirit of the season we have extended temporary reciprocal privileges to our neighbors across the water. At the time of writing this article we are told that the planning is well underway for a temporary clubhouse for their membership and that they have their planning well in hand.
Of course we are approaching this reciprocity with the EYC membership in mind and should adjustments be necessary to ensure the comfort of EYC members we will certainly not hesitate to act. Until then I hope we all will welcome the AYC members as our guests and show them why our club and membership is unparalleled in its sense of community and comradery!
It might be a little early to start thinking about February parties but mark your calendars for the February 20th Commodore’s Ball. Our host, Commodore Heather Ersts, has great plans for a memorable event that you do not want to miss. Check the website for details as they become available and feel free to call the office with any specific questions.
Open Marina Slips
It’s that time of year again. Want to join the EYC marina? Well, the time to act is now. Demand for slips is great so please call soon if you wish to join us for 2016.
Also please remember that those who wish to be added to our wait list will be asked to submit a $500 refundable deposit. This deposit will be applied to the slip lease fees when a slip becomes available. Should you change your mind and not desire to remain on the waiting list the deposit will be returned to you in full immediately.
The Staff Thanks You
On behalf of EYC’s hard working staff I would like to take a moment to thank all of those members who contributed to the annual employee holiday fund. Your generous contributions were greatly appreciated and went a long way toward a very merry holiday. If you did not get the giving letter in advance of the holiday, please don’t hesitate to contribute well into January and even into February. We distribute these funds in advance so your contribution will still be forwarded to the staff. The acknowledgement of our staff goes a long way with loyalty and tenure which also helps make my job a lot easier so I thank you all as well! Have a terrific 2016 and all the best wishes in the New Year.
