March 1, 2017

As I am typing this letter I have to say it has been a pretty nice February. Who would have thought we would have 60 and 70-degree weather at this time of the year? Of course, it will probably snow in July but Maryland weather always keeps us on our toes. That being said, March brings us the annual Burning of the Socks celebration on the 19th so perhaps we can optimistically look forward to an early Spring. Come down with socks in hand and let’s make it happen!

Commodore’s Ball

The EYC Commodore’s Ball, one of the year’s best parties, is nearly upon us. This year’s event has been pushed back slightly to accommodate some calendar exceptions and to enjoy what we hope will be some terrific Spring weather. Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 18th at 6pm to attend the Mermaids and Pirates themed event.

Chef Henry has created some amazing stations for our members to enjoy. Here’s just a hint of what he has up his sleeve for our terrific event: A Cuban station featuring paella, Cuban sandwiches and beef ropa; a Jamaican station with jerk chicken, short ribs with guava glaze, and Caribbean sweet potato soup; a raw oyster bar; an oven roasted Blue Catfish paired with a roasted whole rockfish in banana leaf, as well as passed hors d’oeuvres such as crab flatbreads, coconut chicken with Malibu rum batter ... and did I fail to mention a SUSHI BAR!

Tickets are $85 per person and also include an open bar in addition to more great food that I didn’t have the space to include. Get your tickets now because this will be an event NOT TO MISS.

Marina slips

Things have begun to settle in the marina for our 2017 season but we do still have three wet slips available to our EYC members. The available slips will accommodate boats of length 31 feet, 35 feet and 37 feet and range from $3465 to $4200 annually. Of course, annual rates are prorated for new tenants for whatever portion of the year is remaining therefore 2017 costs for these open slips would be less. Please contact me or the marina chairperson for further information. Enjoy the convenience of having your boat docked at the most unique club in Annapolis!

Member business events

Looking for a unique retreat or simple business luncheon? The Eastport Yacht Club might just be the perfect fit. EYC provides fully catered breakfasts, lunches and dinners to suit a variety of needs and budgets. We also have audio visual equipment that is available at no additional charge to our member and their guests. Why not showcase the club and the terrific views while your staff enjoys a productive reinvigorating getaway? Please feel free to reach out to myself or Amy Reilly our members services for further details and bookings. We hope to host your event soon!

Parking stickers and directory

All EYC members should have received their 2017 directory, parking sticker and member card sticker in the mail by now. Please don’t forget to affix your parking sticker to the front driver’s side lower left window. Removal of unauthorized vehicles occurs frequently and we don’t want to inadvertently tow a member who has a sticker sitting on the kitchen table. Extra member parking stickers can also be purchased at the EYC bar or through the EYC business offices.

Note that stickers are now distributed to voting members, senior members, associate members and junior members.
