Happy 2018 to all of our Eastport Yacht Club family! The New Year is upon us and I hope everyone had a joyful and safe holiday with their family and friends.

I would like to take a brief moment to thank all of the membership for maintaining such an amazing club. Your club helps support our staff’s families and provides a terrific community atmosphere for all of our members alike. Like any dynamic organization we have our challenging moments but the tenacity and good will of our members always seem to prevail.

I would also like to specifically thank our Commodore, the rest of the board and of course all of our committee chairpersons and volunteers who help keep this wonderful “machine” running so smoothly. Of course, I would also be remiss in not thanking our very hardworking staff who come to work with great attitudes and work hard to service our membership every day. Without your collective efforts we would not be close to what we are today. Thanks and the best of New Years to you all!

Club Closure

Just a reminder that the club will be closed on Tuesday, January 2nd and Wednesday, January 3rd so the club can undergo maintenance on the building. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to seeing you later in the week.

Management Changes

There has been a lot going on behind the scenes at the club over the last month. Among the things that we have been working on has been changes and additions to some of our management team. First, we are saying a sad goodbye to Chef Henry who will be starting a new job at a country club in Pennsylvania at the beginning of the year. His contributions to the club have been many and he will be sorely missed. I have not yet found his replacement, but we hope to have a new person selected within the next few weeks.

Additionally, we have made some changes to our office personnel. Amy Reilly, who has been our full time Member Services Manager, has moved into a part time role as an Events and Human Resources Manager. Jordan Ward, who has been in a part time role in the office, will take over the role of full time Member Services Manager. It keeps great continuity and historical knowledge within the office staff while accommodating these dedicated employee’s needs. A win-win for all involved!

Lastly, the Executive Board recently voted to expand the role of the Junior Fleet Director to the role of full time Waterfront Director. Nan Walker, who was in the old role for the last couple years, has accepted the offer to move into the new position. She will support all waterfront activities such as the juniors, marina and race committee among others. We look forward to the extended member services that this change will provide and hope that it enhances the member experience for those who regularly utilize the waterfront.

Open Marina Slips

It’s that time of year again. Want to join the EYC marina? Well, the time to act is now. Demand for slips is great (essentially 100% occupied for the last two years) so please call soon if you wish to join us for 2018.

Also, please remember that those who wish to be added to our wait list will be asked to submit a $500 refundable deposit. This deposit will be applied to the slip lease fees when a slip becomes available. Should you change your mind and not desire to remain on the waiting list the deposit will be returned to you in full immediately.

Food and Beverage Account

It has come to my attention that perhaps some of our membership was unaware that the club extends the privilege of placing money on your food and beverage account to be used at a later date. Think of it like a pre-paid credit card where you place a balance on account and then can slowly charge it down. This simplifies the closing process as you do not need to present cash or credit card and speeds up check out times during busy periods. If you have any questions, feel free to ask any of the management or service staff for details.

The Staff Thanks You

On behalf of EYC’s staff I would like to take a moment to thank all of those members who contributed to the annual employee holiday fund. Your generous contributions were greatly appreciated and went a long way toward a very merry holiday. If you wanted to contribute but missed the opportunity in all of the chaos of the holiday season, please don’t hesitate to support the staff with a gift well into January and even into February. Your contribution will still be forwarded to the staff. The acknowledgement of our staff goes a long way with loyalty and tenure which contributes to improved service throughout the year!
