I burned my socks a couple days ago but boy I could still use them today! OK, so it doesn’t quite feel like spring yet but perhaps by the time you are reading this article Maryland weather will have been true to form and changed dramatically. Should that be the case, that means that we will have the pleasure of enjoying one of our most anticipated parts of our new clubhouse, the exterior deck.
Internally our staff is preparing for what we are calling the “second grand opening” since we expect a significant increase in the level of member usage. As we brace for what we hope will be record levels of member clubhouse usage we are doing our best to anticipate the volume of business and prepare our staffing and internal systems accordingly.
Like any first cycle we are sure to experience a learning curve so I hope you will continue to provide feedback for what is working, and what is not, so that we can make quick corrections. Don’t forget we now have member comment cards located near the front door that you can leave a terrific idea or a helpful critique so that we may better serve the needs of a diverse membership.
Open Marina Slips
EYC STILL HAS OPEN WET SLIPS TO ACCOMMODATE BOATS FROM 20-31 FEET! It’s not too late to keep your boat close to the clubhouse where all the fun happens. Not only is the convenience of keeping your boat at EYC valuable for our tenants but the introduction of the new oyster reef has not only made EYC environmentally conscious but it has also significantly reduced the wave action that used to occur in the marina.
Demand for slips is great so please call soon if you wish to join us for 2013. Also please remember that those that wish to be added to our wait list will be asked to submit a $500 refundable deposit. This deposit will be applied to the slip lease fees when a slip becomes available. Should you change your mind and not desire to remain on the waiting list the deposit will be returned to you immediately.
Families, Fun and “KIDS FIRST FRIDAYS” at EYC!
EYC is dedicated to making its clubhouse attractive to our younger members. That means kids of ALL ages. This group is the future of our club and we understand that it can be difficult to balance the desired use of the club, work and family for parents.
Well, we can’t do much about the work component but you will notice a number of changes that will be occurring for our kids. I have been talking to our kids as they come and go and I have listened to their suggestions! The first request was a video console, Wii-U to be specific! Well, the club is now a proud owner of a bouncy baby Wii-U. We have also invested in a number of games for the kids to play as well as brain games for the tables in the dining room to keep the kids occupied while mom and dad enjoy a meal.
The first Friday of every month will be “Kids First Fridays” which will be a night for kids in the first-floor event space. We’ll have crafts, coloring and fun games like Velcro ball darts, bowling and much more. We will also be running a video for the little ones simultaneously…Keep an eye out for the Lorax on “First Friday” April 5.
There is NO CHARGE for attending “Kids First Fridays,” however we do ask that you give us a call or use the online signup you’ll find on the new EYC for Kids page (under the “Ashore” tab on the website) and let us know the age of the children that are coming so we can prepare the appropriate activities. As always we want your input so please make suggestions what you think might best serve our littlest members.
