August 1, 2013: It is clear that summer has us firmly in its grasp. While working on the boat, enjoying a regatta or participating in one of our terrific sailing classes we want to remind everyone to hydrate and take time to cool down in the air conditioning when possible. We have seen a few people suffer the symptoms of heat stroke and we want guarantee that there are no severe cases at our club.
Headache, nausea and fatigue are but a few of the early symptoms to keep an eye on. We also ask that we all help with identifying these symptoms in our smallest members of our club, the kids, since they may not know to do so on their own. Safety is our highest priority! Besides, what better place is there to cool down than in our brand new clubhouse enjoying the best view in Annapolis!
Sunday breakfast is our latest extension of service to our members. Come down before noon every Sunday and enjoy one of our terrific new ala cart breakfast menu items with all your friends. It’s a terrific way to start a Sunday while supporting the club and its staff.
Music on the Deck
Our annual Music on the Deck season is in full swing and we invite everyone down to enjoy a nice late Sunday afternoon with some fabulous local musicians. August features Steve Johnson and the Kings of Crownsville on the 11th and Jordan Sokel on the 25th.
“The Kings” take great tunes, add a touch of New Orleans, a pinch of jazz, a hint of world-beat, and ground it all in solid alt-rock sensibility. Jordan Sokel crafts chill tunes with a universal message, delivered with one of the most soulful voices in the area. His live sets consist of original material and cover songs that span across many different musical genres. See you for a great tune and a rum punch soon!
Join us at the club on August 24th as our EYC family hosts the CRAB (Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating) Regatta on August 24th.
This fantastic regatta and after party fundraiser is dedicated to making the thrill of sailing a reality for physically and/or developmentally-challenged individuals and for those individuals whose financial circumstances preclude their participation in recreation on the waters of Chesapeake Bay.
It’s not only a terrific event to watch but they sure do know how to throw a great party afterwards! Join us for live music and some great food from the Boatyard Bar & Grill, all the while supporting a terrific cause. Interested in more information about the event or the regatta? Check out their website.
