February 1, 2014: As we settle into the New Year I wanted to take a moment to welcome all of our generous club members who donate their time to actively participate in committees, activities and general events in 2014. It is your creativity and hard work that define Eastport Yacht Club. These volunteer activities are what help cement the bonds between members and in my opinion is the fabric that makes EYC unique among clubs.

If there is anything that either I or the management team can do to help please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you would like any information pertaining to your committee or the club in general … we are happy to help!

2014 Commodore’s Ball

The party of the year is upon us! Join our host Commodore Scott Miller and his wife Suzanne Palmer for what will likely be the party of the year. The response from those who attended last year’s event was amazing and we hope to exceed the high level of expectation set at that wonderful event.

Live music will be featured from the band Radio City and Chef Henry will be treating us to cuisine from around the United States. New Orleans, Key West, New England and Southwestern cuisine will be just a few of the featured stations for the event. We will be upping the ante this year by also featuring drinks and specialty desserts from the specific regions so don’t miss out! This is a cocktail party-style event so seating will be limited but there will be plenty of room for dancing and fun! Reservations can be made online or call the office for assistance. We hope to see you there.

Lobster Night

The seasonal favorite has returned with a bang! Join us for two more installments of the EYC favorite in February on the 15th and the 22nd. You must call in advance to reserve your lobster and don’t forget to make a reservation for your table as well if that better suits your schedule. Both dates still have availability but act quickly!

Marina Slips

All contracts for the marina should be in at this point and I would like to remind you that we still slips available. We currently have both lift slips and wet slips available immediately for those interested. Please contact the office or the marina chairperson for further information and annual rates.

J/80 Worlds

Planning for our renowned regatta has begun and we look forward to hosting this competitive event in September. That doesn’t mean however that the fun has to wait! Our hard working regatta planning committee has some super events planned to introduce the regatta to our members and plan for what will surely be an event that will be remembered at EYC for years. This month we will see some French-themed specials and events to honor the passing of the event baton to EYC. The chef will be featuring some terrific French dishes and the bar will have specials on our amazing French wines as well as some unique French drink specials. Nous rejoindre pour s'amuser!

Parking Stickers and Directory

All EYC members should have received their 2014 directory, parking sticker and member card sticker in the mail. Please don’t forget to affix your sticker to the front driver’s side lower left window. Removal of unauthorized vehicles will be more aggressive this month and we don’t want to inadvertently tow a member who has a sticker sitting on the kitchen table.
