April 1, 2014:  There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel…of weather that is! This winter has certainly taken its toll on our collective patience but if the recent EYC sock burning is an indication hopefully warm weather will soon be upon us.

With the warm weather we are hoping to refurbish our waterfront lawn and by mid-March we had already aerated and reseeded for the upcoming season. We will be trying to allow for the new grass to establish itself as much as possible early in the year so you will notice restricted use of the area at the beginning of the season.

We will repeating this process at least two or three more times this year to try to establish a strong root system that can hold up to our numerous events and high traffic. There is a delicate balance to using this space and growing grass so we ask that our membership be patient as we strengthen what has become one of EYC’s favorite amenities.

Open Marina Slips

Our marina is filling fast for our 2014 season and there are only two slips still available. Slip A12 will accommodate a 29-foot boat in the water and lift slip C7 will accommodate a 22-foot boat in the air. Unfortunately all of our landside slips are currently committed. If you are interested in one of the remaining two slips act fast as they will surely fill up as soon as the warm weather takes over.

If you are interested in a slip and there is not one available that suits your needs then you can place your name on the waiting list by This email address is being protected from spambots. Families, food and fun!

April is another great month for family fun at EYC! Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the annual Kids’ Easter Egg Hunt. This is one of my favorite EYC events when all of the Lil’ Skippers of EYC don their fancy Easter duds and converge on the club for a terrific morning of fun. Negotiations are still underway with the Easter bunny himself so hopefully he will be able to carve out some time from his busy day to say “hi” to all of the kids. We ask that you please make reservations to assure your space for this always popular event.

Kids’ First Fridays is another event picking up a lot of steam here at EYC. Thanks to member Laura Moore and her helpers for another great St. Patrick’s Day-themed event in March. We will host another fun evening in April for kids and parents alike.

Laura has some terrific activities planned and we will have a children’s movie playing on the TV. We can always use extra hands to assist with the activities so please contact me or Laura directly to help. The turnouts have been great so please make your reservations soon so that we have the appropriate amount of materials available for all the families.

Family Movie Night returns in April as well. Join the rest of the kids as we screen something fun and enjoy a related craft and a bite to eat.

Lastly, we have updated our kids’ menu and are always interested in your feedback. Let us know what you think by filling out a comment card or by touching base with any of our management team. We have also added a new EYC themed coloring page and some new activities for the kids to play with at the table. As is the case on all of the EYC menus please don’t hesitate to ask your server for special requests. We are happy to honor them whenever possible.
