April 1, 2016: Mother Nature has not been terribly accommodating for our annual sock burning for a number of years now but that didn’t stop the festivities! Many of our members threw on their flip flops and headed down to the club to the annual ritual to welcome in Spring. Socks were burned, cocktails were consumed and fun was had by all!
So now that we are official let’s start getting ready for a terrific boating season and enjoying our beautiful clubhouse. The House Committee has some terrific events planned and our staff has officially opened the outside deck for those nicer days. It’s the best time of year at the club so come down and join your friends for a nice meal and one of our signature cocktails!

2016 Commodore’s Ball
Take off your scuba equipment, the water-themed Ball is over! This year’s event thrown by our own Commodore Heather Ersts was a terrific success. The attendance was great and those in attendance danced the night away after feasting on Chef Henry’s tasty morsels as well as a fresh sushi bar prepared by authentic sushi chefs.
Keep your eyes peeled for all the great photos of the event on the EYC website and for those who couldn’t attend … you missed a great party but we will see you next year!

Happy 2016! The New Year is upon us and I hope all of our members had a joyful and safe holiday with their family and friends.
By now, everyone is surely well versed on the horrible fire that occurred at the Annapolis Yacht Club. As you may also be aware in the spirit of the season we have extended temporary reciprocal privileges to our neighbors across the water. At the time of writing this article we are told that the planning is well underway for a temporary clubhouse for their membership and that they have their planning well in hand.

If you didn’t get the opportunity to join in January for our ever popular Lobster night don’t worry because we will have two more installments of the EYC favorite this month on the 6th and the 13th of February. You must call in advance to reserve your lobster and don’t forget to make a reservation to reserve your table as well. All dates still have availability but very frequently sell out so act quickly!
Hold the date for the 2016 Commodore’s Ball on February 20, 2016. This year’s event will feature amazing cuisine from Bermuda, Cuba and Maryland. What do these places have in common, you ask? They are destinations for our sailors in 2016 and the theme of our event, celebrating the waters of these beautiful locations.

2015 Annual Meeting
Thanks to all of our members who attended the 2015 Annual Meeting at Marriott Waterfront Hotel. The turnout was unprecedented, and we welcomed in three new Board members: Liz Filter, Rear Commodore; Clayton Miller, Treasurer; and Kirk Gunn, Fleet Captain for the New Year.
I would also like to thank our outgoing Board members Scott Miller, Tom Spiegel and Mike Thompson for all of the hard work they put in for what amounted to a very challenging year. So congratulations (and sometimes condolences) to the entire Board for their election and let’s hope for a great 2016!
