Ever caught a 14" white perch? Know how strong they are, or how rare they are? It takes some savvy to bring in five white perch big enough together (5+ lbs.) to win the F4AC Perch Trophy.

How about the Slam - the category that rewards the heaviest fish of three different species? Is your crew versatile enough to win this one? What would your third species be: chain pickerel, catfish, oyster toad, menhaden?

Both of these F4AC prize categories carry great prizes of tackle and gear, thanks to our great sponsors. It's even possible to win both of these AND the biggest rockfish, if your skill set is broad enough!

So where do you go to compete for these categories, and how do you fish? Join past winners of both categories for a F4AC Perch and Slam Seminar. We’ll have some finger food (wings and meatballs) and a cash bar (including bar menu). We’ll discuss locations and there will be oyster restoration reef charts of the lower Severn River and perch teasers (lures) for the first two dozen attendees.

The seminar is free, but you and your crew have to have your boat already signed up for the tournament. To register for the seminar, put F4AC Perch & Slam Seminar in the title and e-mail John Page Williams, Chesapeake Bay Foundation Senior Naturalist, at This email address is being protected from spambots.
