What is Your Sailor's Level?

Novice: No sailing experience. Ages 6-8. First time sailors who are comfortable in the water with wearing a personal flotation device (PFD).

Seaman - Beginner: No sailing experience or moving up from Opti. Focus on boating safety, sailing terminology, wind awareness, basic sailing maneuvers, basic seamanship, and sailing a course.

Mate - Intermediate: Have basic sailing skills and know terminology. Introduction to rules of the road, basic navigation, boat controls, skippering, upwind course sailing, and an intro to racing.

Skipper - Advanced: Proficient skippers and crews who want to advance their boat handling skills. Focus on starting a race, racing rules, course sailing, tactics and strategy, and advance boat controls. All learners will experience skipper and crew roles.

Club FJ (ages 10-15)

This class introduces and builds basic sailing skills in a double-handed boat and is designed for our older students. The curriculum emphasizes terminology, teamwork, basic seamanship, basic boat handling, and course sailing as both skipper and crew. Students are grouped per experience level. Costs: $385, includes t-shirt. All Day Program for one week, 9:30-3:30

  • Session 1: June 26 - June 30
  • Session 2: July 17 – 21

Mate, Intermediate, ages 10-15

This class introduces and builds basic sailing skills in a double handed boat and is designed for our older students. Our curriculum emphasizes terminology, teamwork, basic seamanship, basic boat handling, course sailing, mark rounding, and an introduction to the spinnaker and race course including racing rules. Students are grouped per experience level. Cost: $385, (*$340), includes t-shirt. All Day Program for one week 9:30-3:30

  • Session 1: July 3 - July 7 (*No class July 4)
  • Session 2: July 24- 28

Skipper, Advanced, ages 11-15

This class is geared for kids with previous CFJ experience or equivalent. This class will focus on improving small boat handling skills through drills, spinnaker work, fleet racing, and team racing. Students are 2 per boat, grouped per experience level. Cost: $385, includes t-shirt. All Day Program for one week 9:30-3:30.

  • Session 1: July 10 - July 14
  • Session 2: July 31 - August 4
