What Level is Your Sailor?

NOVICE - Ages 6-8:
No sailing experiences. First time sailors who are comfortable around the water and wearing a personal flotation device (PFD).

SEAMAN - Beginner:
No (minimum) sailing experience required. Focus on boating safety, terminology, wind awareness, basic sail trim, and steering a course.

MATE - Intermediate:
Proficient at basic sailing. Introduction to rules of the road, basic navigation, boat and sail controls, expanded tiller time, upwind sailing, and intro to racing.

SKIPPER - Advanced:
Capable skipper and crew. Focus on advanced boat handling, course sailing, starting a race, racing rules, tactics, and strategy in both skipper and crew roles.


Green Fleet Friday

Ages 8 and up | (Must be able to sail an upwind course)

EYC offers fun racing on Friday evenings in the OPTI, Sunfih, and CFJ.
GFF is open to any student in a current or previous session who is comfortable sailing a course.  Our low key weekly racing offers fun dinghy racing in a protected environment. All sailors must be approved by their instructor to race. A buffet cookout ala carte is available for after sailing. Signups occur weekly on a first-come basis. Parents are welcome and encouraged to spectate and/or to sail with kids.

Cost is FREE and open to any EYC student or member’s child.
Fridays: 5:30PM-7:30PM | July - Aug  

Arrival 5:30pm
Racing 6:00pm
Awards and food 7:30pm
