What is Your Sailor's Level?

Novice: No sailing experience. Ages 6-8. First time sailors who are comfortable in the water with wearing a personal flotation device (PFD).

Seaman - Beginner: No sailing experience or moving up from Opti. Focus on boating safety, sailing terminology, wind awareness, basic sailing maneuvers, basic seamanship, and sailing a course.

Mate - Intermediate: Have basic sailing skills and know terminology. Introduction to rules of the road, basic navigation, boat controls, skippering, upwind course sailing, and an intro to racing.

Skipper - Advanced: Proficient skippers and crews who want to advance their boat handling skills. Focus on starting a race, racing rules, course sailing, tactics and strategy, and advance boat controls. All learners will experience skipper and crew roles.

Sunfish (ages 9-15)

Our single-handed sailing classes using the Sunfish offer instruction for older and/or larger sailors learning to sail or ready to step out of the Opti.

picsunfish154aSunfish Seaman, Beginner, ages 9-12 (60+lbs)

Our Seaman class offers instruction for Sunfish sailors who are ready to step out of the Opti or older children learning to sail for the first time.This class focuses on beginner skills. *Basic sailing experience helpful. Costs: $195, includes t-shirt. Morning: 9AM - Noon OR Afternoon: 1PM - 4PM for 1 week.

  • Session 1: June 26 – June 30
  • Session 2: July 17 - 21

Sunfish Mate, Intermediate, ages 9-13 (60+lbs)

Our Mate class offers instruction for Sunfish sailors who have completed our Seaman class or similar. This class focuses on intermediate skills including boat handling, rules of the road, boat speed, sail trim, and intro to the race course. *Basic sailing experience required. Costs: $195 (*$150), includes t-shirt. Morning: 9AM - Noon OR Afternoon: 1PM - 4PM for 1 week.

  • Session 1: July 3 – July 7 (*No class July 4)
  • Session 2: July 24 – July 28

Sunfish Skipper, Advanced, ages 10-15

*Must have intermediate sailing experience.
Our Skipper program expands on the Mate Class and focuses on advanced singlehanded sailing and beginner racing. This includes boat handling, racing rules, mark rounding, starting, tactics, tackling the racecourse, and STEM challenges. Costs: $385, includes t-shirt All Day Program for one week, 9:00AM - 3:00PM.

  • Session 2: July 31 – August 4
