Our MissionWelcome to the EYC boat program. 2016 mark our 13 season of teaching quality boating programs The Mission of the Eastport Yacht Club Junior Fleet is to support a Learn-to-Boat program that teaches student the basics of boathandling, seamanship, safety, and sportsmanship. The program strives to develop competence and confidence in our sailors and powerboater in a safe and fun learning environment.
We offer sailing lessons, offered to kids ages 6-15 and adults 16 and up. The EYC program emphasizes safety, learning, and foremost FUN, by teaching sailing, seamanship, navigational skills, plus an introduction to racing. Our program helps participants develop self-reliance, self-regulation, sportsmanship, knowledge and respect for the environment while ensuring boating safety awareness. With a combination of classroom time and on the- water time, classes are designed to teach the basic skills of sailing to beginners and to help hone the skills of more advanced students. The EYC Learn-to-Sail Program uses four types of boats: the Optimist, Open BIC, Sunfish, Club FJ, and J22. We also have fleet of paddleboards and kayaks used throughout our training as a fun alternative on those no wind days. Click here to view Frequently Asked Questions.
We also offer safe powerboat handling for kids and adults starting at age 12. The Eastport Yacht Club is a recognized US Powerboating facility. We will be offering safe powerboating and race committee courses throughout the year. Courses are taught on-site at the Eastport Yacht Club in the Boston Whaler sizes 13, 15, 1nd 17ft.
