Middle/High School Sailing

After School Sailing

Ages: 5th - 8th Grade
Dates: April 13-May 11 - (makeup 5/18)
Time: 3:45 -6:00pm
Cost: $155
Coaches: Jordan Stock

EYC is offering after school sailing for students in grades 5-8. Sailors must have some previous experience. The program will use Club FJs. Sailors will work on fundamental sailing skills, boat handling, beginner racing, and an intro into high school sailing in a fun environment. This program is an extension of our beginner learn-to-sail program.

High School Sailing

Ages: 8th - 12th Grade

EYC is proud to announce our high school sailing program for 2014-2015 school year. We have joined forces with Indian Creek School. High School sailing closely parallels the collegiate sailing format. Our program will focus on both fleet racing and team racing. Indian Creek School (ICS) will train at the Eastport Yacht Club (EYC) under the direction of the Junior Fleet as part of the Central League of the Mid-Atlantic Scholastic Sailing Association (MASSA) District.

ICS will participate in a number of regattas throughout the seasons which run from September to November and March to May. The end of each season culminates in a District Championship and in the Spring, for those teams that qualify, the National Fleet Racing Championship (Mallory Cup) and National Team Racing Championship (Baker Cup).

In addition to daily coaching at practices, EYC will rotate coaching duties with ICS for weekend regattas. Junior Varsity teams typically travel to local events lasting one day. Varsity teams attend local events and travel to venues requiring overnight stays several times a season. Organization of all local and overnight trips is the responsibility of ICS, team captains, and parents.
Dates: March 10-May 14, 2015

She began sailing at Archbishop Spalding High School at age 16 and went on to sail at Old Dominion University for the women’s team. Following graduation from college in 2012, she coached a local sailing team in Norfolk, VA before traveling to New Zealand to teach sailing. When she returned, she took a management position at the Downtown Sailing Center in Baltimore.
