Indian Creek High School Sailing

EYC is proud to announce our high school sailing program for 2012-2103 school year. We have joined forces with Indian Creek School. High School sailing closely parallels the collegiate sailing format. Our program will focus on both fleet racing and team racing. Indian Creek School (ICS) will train at the Eastport Yacht Club (EYC) under the direction of the Junior Fleet as part of the Central League of the Mid-Atlantic Scholastic Sailing Association (MASSA) District.

ICS will participate in a number of regattas throughout the seasons which run from September to November and March to May. The end of each season culminates in a District Championship and in the Spring, for those teams that qualify, the National Fleet Racing Championship (Mallory Cup) and National Team Racing Championship (Baker Cup).

In addition to daily coaching at practices, EYC will rotate coaching duties with ICS for weekend regattas. Junior Varsity teams typically travel to local events lasting one day. Varsity teams attend local events and travel to venues requiring overnight stays several times a season. Organization of all local and overnight trips is the responsibility of ICS, team captains, and parents.

How Do I Sign Up?

This year we have online signups. You can pay by check or credit card. If possible we prefer you Pay by Check to avoid credit card fee. If paying by check online, please mail in your with payment within 10 days of sign up.

There is no login process so you cannot go back and add an additional child once submitted. Meet Our Coaches

Samantha Parisi will lead our High School program for the 2012-2013 school year. This is Samantha’s first year as the High School Coach for EYC. Samantha grew up in Island Heights, New Jersey where she sailed at her club's junior program and her high school team.

Samantha’s coaching experience includes positions as a Instructor, Program Director, Private Coach, and the Assistant Sailing Coach for Severn School.

Samantha attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland and sailed on their Varsity Sailing Team. In 2007, she graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Arts and the St. Mary’s Sailing Team won College Nationals in Team Racing, Women's, and CoEd Dinghys. Samantha went on to graduate from the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Masters of Arts in Teaching Program in 2008 with Masters Degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. In 2011, Samantha also earned her Masters in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College.

Samantha has been in Annapolis since 2008 and sails in the Etchell, J22, J24, Snipe, and Thistle fleets. This summer Samantha traveled to San Diego, California where she and her team won Thistle Nationals. Samantha currently teaches Pre-K at Indian Creek School.

Samantha will be assisted by Suzy Acevedo and Juan Watson. We are very excited for our new program and welcome Indian Creek to the Eastport Yacht Club.
