Julia Melton is thrilled to be back with EYC as a head instructor. Julia sailed on the varsity team while attending Eckerd College of St. Petersburg FL, and competed in college sailing nationals in 2011 and 2012. Julia has continued sailing dinghies, competing in Snipes, V15 team racing, and J70’s, and recently winning the Don Q regatta in Miami. She plans to sail the Snipe Worlds in Rio de Janeiro this coming September. In addition to her love of competing, she taught sailing at EYC in 2011 and at Mattituck Yacht Club on Long Island last summer, working with beginners-intermediate sailors as well as race teams. Julia graduated Eckerd in 2012 with a BA in Environmental Studies and minors in Chemistry and Art; she is working to become a MD certified teacher in secondary education. |

Nathan Hesse graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2011 with a B.A. in Spanish. At St. Mary’s he worked at the waterfront, windsurfed and co-taught the college’s Intro to Sailing Course. Nathan was the Assistant Head of Dock at Four Winds Westward Ho in Orcas Island, WA and was a deck hand on Schooner Woodwind. He has worked on private sailboats, as well as on new boat commissioning and deliveries. He also writes for SpinSheet Magazine. Nathan is a waterfront lifeguard and holds a 50 Ton Master’s License with sail and tow endorsements. |

Juan Watson was born in South Africa and left in 1998 to join a 92ft sloop as a deckhand; this would be the start of his 14 year yachting career. Juan sailed extensively in the Med, Caribbean, Bahamas, US East coast, Great lakes and completed 3 Trans-Atlantics. Juan is excited to share and transfer through instruction what he learned in his time as a captain and is looking forward to the upcoming season on the water with EYC. Welcome aboard! |

Samantha Parisi attended St. Mary's College of Maryland and sailed on their Varsity Sailing Team. In 2007, she graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Arts and the St. Mary's Sailing Team won College Nationals in Team Racing, Women's, and CoEd Dinghys. Samantha went on to graduate from the St. Mary's College of Maryland Masters of Arts in Teaching Program in 2008 with Masters Degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. In 2011, Samantha also earned her Masters in Liberal Arts from St. John's College. |

Stephanie Schnabel is a sophomore at College of Charleston and sails for the Club sailing team. She has been sailing for ten years and attended Annapolis Yacht Club and SSA's junior sailing programs. This is Stephanie's 4th season at EYC. She is very excited about this year's program and looking forward to a great summer. |

Instructor | Connor Whitney is currently a sophomore at Virginia Tech where he is studying Ocean Engineering with Naval Engineering minor. He grew up learning to sail in Annapolis at SSA advancing from Optis to racing 420s. A graduate of Severna Park High School, Connor was both a team captain and varsity athlete for the school's cross country and track teams. We are thrilled to have Connor back on our team for his 3rd season. |

Instructor | Lauren Schoene will be a Senior at St. Mary's College of Maryland where she competes on the Varsity Sailing Team as both a crew and a skipper. She grew up sailing in Annapolis at SSA in the junior program, learning to race in the Optimist before advancing to the Club 420 and Laser Radial. She graduated from Broadneck Senior High where she was heavily involved in high school sailing and was elected Captain of the Broadneck team her Senior year. This is Lauren's 1st season at EYC and she's excited to be a part of the junior program! |

Instructor | Chase Wood is a Senior at Severna Park HS and is on the sailing team. In addition to is Level 1 he is a certified lifeguard and is completing his Eagle Scout badge this summer. His family lived on a catamaran for one year and sailed the East Coast and Bahamas. When he is not sailing Chase likes to read, play guitar and piano, camp, and snowboard. This is Chase's 2nd season with EYC. |

Junior Instructor | Sophie Podlich is finishing her junior year at Severna Park High School and she is on her high school sailing team. She has been sailing all of her life at SSA's and AYC's junior programs. She also enjoys racing lasers and J70's. When she isn't sailing she enjoys spending time on the bay with her family and friends. This is Sophie's 1st summer at EYC and is looking forward to an exciting summer! |

Michael Pistillo began sailing at EYC in 2007 sailing the Opti, BIC, Feva, and CFJ. When he completed all of the junior fleet courses offered he moved to SSA last summer sailing the 420. Michael also participated in the Storm Trysail Safety at Sea programs in 2011 and 2012. Along with sailing, Michael’s interests are playing and watching basketball and gaming. Michael will be entering his freshman year of high school in Fall 2013. He is enthusiastically looking forward to returning to EYC as part of the team and working with young sailors. |

Hunter Sheely will be entering his freshman year of high school in Fall 2013. He has been sailing in Annapolis since 2007. After completing all of the junior fleet course offerings at EYC, he pursued further development of his sailing skills and experience next door at SSA. He has also participated in the Storm Trysail "Safety at Sea" program in 2011 and 2012. In addition to sailing, Hunter enjoys playing and watching basketball, is a military history and gaming enthusiast, and looks forward to travel in England this year. Hunter is extremely enthusiastic about joining the EYC staff and helping to prepare the next generation of sailors. |
