Cruisers Invade Feldman House

March 25, 2012:  The EYC Cruisers held their annual organizational meeting on March 25, 2012. More than 50 EYC Cruisers took advantage of Roger and Cyndy Feldman's hospitality to enjoy the kick off for the 2012 Cruising Season. During a Pot Luck supper, the cruisers planned their seasonal migration from one end of the Chesapeake Bay to the other.

Plans outlined included trips to Baltimore to see the Tall Ships in June, a chance to participate in the Annual Leukemia Cup Regatta, and stops in the Rhode River, Granary Creek, Chestertown for the 4th of July, the Choptank and Little Choptank Rivers, a crab pick in Cambridge in September, and Oysters on the Half Shell in St. Michaels in October. Fully half of the cruises can be reached either by water or land yacht. So participation is not limited to those with boats. Not to be out done by the Cruisers, the Bermuda Ocean Race Committee held a seminar and reception for the skippers and crew of the 38 boats that have registered so far for the 18th Biennial Race from Annapolis to Bermuda. Under the apt direction of Mary Ann DeGraw, the Committee has been preparing for one of the premier EYC events for the last two years. It is not too late to join the fun. Progress continues at the renovated Clubhouse. The foundations are in for the additions while the first and second decks have been framed out for their new uses. The idea here is to fast track the construction so that the electricians and plumbers can be roughing in the existing structure while the masons and carpenters are building the additions. We are on track to be in the new Clubhouse by late summer and have all work completed by early fall.
