Learn to Sail and Powerboat the Fun Way!

The Eastport Yacht Club offers sailing and powerboating classes for kids 6 to 15 years and adults 16 and up. All classes are taught by US Sailing certified instructors with training in first aid and CPR, and subject to background checks.

Our programs focus on safety and learning with an emphasis on FUN for beginners through advanced students. Our instructors teach seamanship, navigation and a respect for the environment and they focus on self-reliance, sportsmanship, safety, and an overall awareness of boating safety. We teach the basic skills of sailing and powerboating to beginners and hone those skills as students advance. The EYC Learn-to-Boat program uses Optimist Prams, Sunfish, FJs, and J-22s for sailing and the power boat program uses Boston Whalers. We also utilize our fleet of paddleboards and kayaks to expand the fun.

Who Can Take Our Classes?

The EYC program is open to members and nonmember kids and adults. Registration is on a first come basis with limited class sizes. Priority is given to members, as well as non-members who have been in our program before.

Fees and Discounts

In addition to tuition, there is an EYC non-member fee of $65 per season, which includes additional family member taking lessons. We also offer an Early Bird Discount of $20 (before March 15, 2017).
