New General Manager Hired
The EYC Board of Directors is pleased to announce our new general manager, Bill Kocan. A native of the Annapolis area, Bill is a talented and accomplished professional with a comprehensive background in food and beverage management, marketing and financial controls. For more than 12 years he has been General Manager of the Rams Head Tavern and later served as District Manager of Rams Head's multiple food and entertainment operations. Most recently, Bill served as House Manager at Annapolis Yacht Club for nearly four years. He is an active member of the Club Managers Association of America.
Exploratory discussions between Bill and key members of the Board of Directors were just recently brought to fruition and the club's leadership is delighted to have a manager of Bill's caliber come aboard.
"Eastport Yacht Club will be faced with far greater challenges, both fiscal and physical, as we move into the future," said Commodore Rick Brown. "As such, we looked for an individual who possessed the financial and culinary skills needed to operate a first rate bar and tavern but who had also proven himself as a successful Club Manager with the ability to work with the many diverse groups who belong to our community. We believe that we have found such an individual right in our own back yard. That person is Bill Kocan."
In his new role as General Manager, Bill will be responsible for four major areas:
- the multiple facets of daily club operations;
- the oversight of the physical property and the human resources of the club;
- the profitability and overall quality of our beverage and food service; and
- the preservation and nurturing of EYC's club culture through our traditions, history and vision.
Due to Bill's prior professional obligations, he will join us April 1. Until then, we hope you will continue to be patient during this transition.
