2017 EYC Norm Baldwin Rockfish Tournament

"The Norm"norm-2

It's time to register for EYC's Norm Baldwin Memorial Rockfish Tournament. This year marks the eighth annual event, which will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

For those who may be unfamiliar with this event, Norm Baldwin was a long time member of EYC who was a fixture in the Clubhouse,  loved fishing for Rockfish and spent many days each year fishing on the Bay, often with many different club member on board. Norm suddenly passed away in 2010 after starting a club rockfish tournament the year before and we remember him by continuing the tournament in his name.

all tackle logoThis year's tournament will take place on December 2 with fishing allowed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. within the Maryland waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Check-in will be at EYC with winners determined by longest length, and a gathering of the fishermen following the official measuring. As usual, there will be fish stories, clam chowder and hopefully some fresh rockfish to put on the grill. Thanks to our sponsor Alltackle for providing the beer!

The registration fee is $200 per boat including up to five fishermen. Additional fishermen may join a team for $40 each. An additional (optional) tournament-within-the-tournament also is available to enter with your online entry. Official rules are available here. We know it's December, but come out and enjoy some fishing and camaraderie before the season ends.

Leftover Bowl November 25

What's a lot more fun than being a couch potato in front of football on the Saturday after Thanksgiving? Celebrate the Thanksgiving Weekend EYC style with the traditional Leftover Bowl Regatta!

The event is so named because everyone goes home with a trophy, left over from events which had no wind, too much wind, or a class which failed to show up. There's a special award for the best dressed crew/boat, too.

This is one of our most family-friendly regattas, as it counts for nothing except fun, everyone (including crew members) gets a trophy, and it's a chance to have a great afternoon together on the water for groups of family and friends of all ages.

Starting at 1 p.m., and followed by a party, the regatta is open to all, including cruisers as well as racers. Two divisions are offered, with spinnakers allowed in one and prohibited in the other. Those without a current PHRF rating are invited to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to request a provisional courtesy rating for the event.

Registration is now open on the EYC Regatta Management site. Click here to begin the registration process, or here for a copy of the Notice of Regatta.
