Help! I Don't Receive the Weekly Newsblast!

Do you get the weekly Newsblast email on Wednesday mornings? Did you subscribe but your service has either never begun or has stopped? The most likely cause is that our messages to you are being caught in your spam filter, sometimes even farther up the line than the folder you may be able to find on your own.

Most of the time, the cure is simple. In tech-talk, it's called "whitelisting" -- the opposite of blacklisting. In simple terms, it means adding our address to your "safe" list of senders, from whom you want to receive mail. You can allow emails from specific addresses to reach your inbox without being placed in your junk or spam folder by whitelisting those email addresses and adding them to a safe senders list.

Each program has different steps for adding an email address to a safe senders list. Please click on the link for the software you have and follow the instructions. The address most likely to land in your Spam system is the one used for the Newsblast: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. (You may also want to enter other addresses including This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., if they are not already in your address book.) If, however, you have the option to enter a "domain" please enter @eastportyc.org. Find specific instructions for your email service below:

Still stuck? Contact EYC Communications and we'll do our best to help you out!

Please note: If you have inadvertently (or otherwise) unsubscribed from EYC emails, none of this will work until you resubscribe. Because of anti-spam rules, no one can do this for you, you must do it yourself. Just use the "Subscribe" link at the bottom of any EYC website page and then reply to the automated confirmation email you'll receive as a result.

Around the House: June 2018

Theresa Somes

Our May started out with getting a new Point Of Sale system installed in our club. I know there were some issues with orders and how long it took to get your meal. With any new system it takes some time for everyone to learn it and getting used to it. We also have new servers that have started and they are learning how to use it and being trained to work at our club. Please be patient while they go through this.

The question that was asked is – “What is the difference between Tequila and Mezcal?” Do you know the answer? We were able to find out the answer during our Tequila and Mezcal tasting. We also had some very tasty dishes to go with them. Thank You to Carey Kirk for organizing this wonderful event.

Our Mother’s Day brunch buffet was absolutely fantastic. Thank You to the Chefs and staff for doing a wonderful job that day.

The weather was not looking too good for the Blue Angels but it did clear up for them to fly. They put on an amazing show. A Big Thank You to the wonderful volunteers that helped out - Val Pendrick, Deb Bautz, Leslie Bayliss, JoAnn Lavender, Trudy Stalder, Cheryl Lecourt, Neil Hansen, Pat Lang, Barb Roussillon, Carol Heller, Ginny Roberts, Leslie Lawton, Sherry Buschmann, Rosemary McCarthy, Jeannie McCoy, Gary Bahena and Glen Somes.

Thank You to the members for their understanding about the last minute changes that had to be made in order for us to stay off the grass. I know we will appreciate and love our new lawn when we get to use it.

June starts us out with Music on the Deck with Ellis Woodward Duo on the 3rd. Followed by Father’s Day on the 17th and Music on the Deck with Blue Suede Bop.

The club is now serving lunch on Thursdays so come in and take a break and enjoy the view.

A Huge Thank You to the food survey committee who have been working very hard and has put in a lot of time to put together a brief survey on food service at EYC for you to take. The goal of the survey is to find out from as many members as possible what you think about the menu offerings, the quality, consistency and pricing. It really is a short survey taking only a couple of minutes of your time and this is your opportunity to let us know your thoughts on this. Please watch the Newsblast and bulletin board for the start date of this and take the few minutes to take the survey.

Have a good look at the calendar as we have frequent theme nights or events during the month that are not publicized - you just gotta look for them.

We value your comments and suggestions so please fill out a comment card when you receive it with your bill. You can also find them on the table by the hostess stand.

Reminder: the House Committee meets every month on the first Wednesday at 6:30 in the conference room. All are welcome to attend a meeting and see if you would like to join us on a regular basis. June’s meeting will be held on June 6th at 6:30 p.m.

Upcoming Events for July:

  • July 4th – Fourth of July
  • July 14th – Bastille Day
  • July 15th – Music on the Deck

Watch the Newsblast and Bulletin Board for more great events brought to you by House Committee.

Celebrate July Fourth at EYC

Can you believe it? July Fourth is on the horizon. This year’s EYC celebration should be really great, with live music from Major Company starting at 6 p.m., a sumptuous cookout buffet, and, of course, the best seats in town for the fireworks.

Guest Policy:  As in the past, EYC members and their immediate families who live under the same roof are admitted free, but there will be a $10 charge for guests ($5 for children under 11). In addition to immediate families, member guests are restricted to 2 non-member adults and their related children.  For clarification on the EYC Event Guest Policy, please see here.  As always, no reservations required.

The club will be not be open for lunch on July 4th this year, and will open for the July 4th festivities beginning at 5 p.m. This year we will be offering two dining choices: a casual buffet upstairs in the dining room will feature the usual burgers and hotdogs, plus fried chicken, barbecued ribs, and much, much more, all for $20/person, $10/kids aged 3-11 (under 3, free). On the waterfront lawn, it's backyard cookout-style, with hamburgers ($6), chicken sandwiches ($6) and hot dogs ($4), served with cole slaw ($1) and/or chips ($1), a la carte right off the grill.

NOTE: In the event of inclement weather, the party will go on as scheduled, with dinner and music, regardless of the status of the fireworks display.
