Hiring for Summer 2018. Must be 18yrs or older and 2-3 yrs teaching experience.
The mission of the EYC Jr. Fleet is to provide a Learn-to-Boat program that teaches the basics of boat handling, seamanship, safety, sportsmanship, and building friendships. EYC is not a racing program. EYC currently runs an 8 week summer program, fall/spring high school sailing, powerboat, and other programs.

|Waterfront Manager||Nan Walker has an extensive background in program administration, sail and powerboat instruction. Prior to EYC she served as the club manager at SSA for 12 years. Nan has 20+ years’ experience delivering high value services in member driven, board led sailing clubs and non-profit organizations. She is dedicated to the advancement and promotion to the sport of sailing and other water activities. Additional accomplishments include: Sailing Club Director, Chesapeake Boat Club – Annapolis, Md., Executive Director, US Sailing Center Martin County – Stuart, Fl. Founder/Owner/Director, Kid Ship Sailing School – Annapolis, Md. Nan has been with EYC since the fall of 2015.|
|High School Coach||Bryan Stout is a native Annapolitan growing up in an active sailing family at SSA. He competed in Optis, 420's through High School and in local-international events in Snipes. He also has run and crewed on multiple racing keelboat programs. He has experience sailing and coaching Fleet, Team and Match racing. He has vast experience coaching youth and adults and a passion for taking sailors to the next level at any ability. Bryan began coaching the Indian Creek Sailing Team at EYC in the Fall of 2017. We are very fortunate to have his knowledge, energy and passion on our coaching team.|
|Juan Watson was born in South Africa and left in 1998 to join a 92ft sloop as a deckhand; this would be the start of his 16 year yachting career. Juan sailed extensively in the Med, Caribbean, Bahamas, US East coast, Great Lakes and completed 3 Trans-Atlantics. Juan is excited to share and transfer through instruction what he learned in his time as a captain and is looking forward to the upcoming season on the water with EYC. Juan has been with EYC since 2013.|
|Evening Instructor||Sophie Podlich is a rising senior on the University of Rhode Island sailing team where she is an active member on the big boat team. She is a native Annapolitan and she loves sailing J70s, J105s and etchells. Sophie is majoring in Marine Affairs and minoring in Sustainability at URI. Sophie first coached at EYC in 2013, then moved to AYC where she was for 3 years and this summer she is coaching at the USNA Basic Sail Training program as well as EYC! She is excited to share her love for the water and sailing with her sailors!|
|Lead Instructor||Isaac Merritt was born in the historic district and grew up sailing in and around Annapolis. He is currently studying Finance and Economics at the University of Vermont, and is graduating in 2018. He was team captain of his high school sailing team for 3 consecutive years, and remains determined to learn as much as possible within the local maritime industry. He's been racing along side the folks here at EYC for 5 years now, and teaching sailing in the area for 4. In addition to sailing Isaac is an avid Outdoorsman and Musician. But more importantly he's incredibly excited for his second summer working here at Eastport! This is Isaacs second summer at EYC.|
|Instructor||Charles Carpenter is a sophomore at St. John's College in Annapolis, MD. He grew up sailing in Cape Cod and in Marblehead, MA. He started by learning in Sunfish and Cape Cod Mercurys. Once he became more passionate about sailing he joined the racing program at Cape Cod Sea Camps and learned to sail 420s. He then left Cape Cod and spent a summer racing Lasers at Pleon Junior Yacht Club. He has had experience in other boats including Flying Scots, and Colgate 26s. At St. John's, he sails FJs for the club sailing team and studies western literature.|
|Instructor||Hunter Sheely has been sailing in Annapolis since 2007. After completing all of the junior fleet course offerings at EYC, he pursued further development of his sailing skills and experience at SSA. He has also participated in the Storm Trysail "Safety at Sea" program. In addition to sailing, Hunter enjoys playing and watching basketball. Hunter is a recent graduate at Mt. St. Joseph High School. He will be attending Indiana University in the Fall.This is Hunter's fifth summer at EYC.|
|Instructor||Harrison Koller is a freshman at College of Charleston. He began his sailing career in Opti's at AYC, where he moved up through the Green Fleet and Optimist Race Team. While in opti's, he qualified for two International Events in Italy and Belgium. After competing in Italy, he moved into the C420 where he spent four summers racing the boat all over the East Coast. He was Co-Captain of Key School's Sailing Team. During his time at Key School, he qualified & competed in High School Fleet Race National Championship twice. He enjoys sailing larger boats such as J22's as a member of AYC's Junior Corinthian Cup team. He am excited to have a great first summer coaching at EYC!|
|Instructor||Nash Whitacre is a native Annapolitan, who being born into a family of sailors fell in love with the sport. The youngest of 3 sailing brothers and the son of two sailing parents, Nash studies Business analytics and Spanish at The University of Miami. He has sailed out of SSA his whole life and has experience working as an Instructor with Annapolis Community Boating. Good times and good jokes are passions of his, along with windsurfing, soccer, and Frisbee. Nash can’t wait to meet the sailors and get out on the water! This is Nash's first summer at EYC.|
|Stephen Oxley will be a sophomore at Severna Park High School in the fall. He learned to sail while participating for six years in the Junior Fleet programs at EYC and as an Instructor in Training in 2016. He has spent time sailing the Optis, Open Bic, and the Club FJ as well as sailing for several years in the Green Fleet Friday races. He has also completed the Storm Trysail “Safety at Sea” program. Besides sailing, Stephen plays select lacrosse, ice hockey, soccer, and basketball as well as the piano. He also enjoys snow skiing, snowboarding, and hanging out with friends and the Midshipmen his family sponsor. After many years as a Junior Fleet participant, Stephen is looking forward to his 2nd season working at EYC sharing his knowledge with the young sailors.|
|Junior Instructor||Shalom Fadullon has been on boats her entire life, but her sailing career recently took off after her move from southern California. She is a senior at Annapolis High School, a member of the varsity 420 team, and has competed in numerous qualifying and national events. A huge board sports fan, Shalom is an avid kayaker and paddleboarder, with experience in helping and instructing young kids from different settings. Along with FJ's and dinghy racing, she enjoys sailing larger boats including J22s, Cal 25s, and J80s. She recently completed the US coast guard sailing and seamanship courses is excited to share her knowledge. When not on a boat, she is an avid member of mock trial and NHS. Shalom is looking forward to her first summer at EYC!|
|Instructor In Training||Heather McKee has been sailing since 2011. Heather enjoys racing on Thursday and Friday nights with her friends and family on her father’s J80. She obtained her Maryland Boaters license and has successfully completed all of EYC’s sailing courses and Storm Trysail “Safety at Sea” Program. Outside of sailing, she is an honor student at Southern High School, member of National Junior Honor Society, member the Cross Country team and has a passion for art. Heather is anxious to share her love of sailing and to gain experience by teaching other how to sail, especially young children. This is Heather's first summer with EYC.|
|Instructor In Training||Seamus Seerey has been sailing for 7 years and sailed out of EYC. Seamus ill be a sophomore at Archbishop Spalding High school in the Fall and is enrolled in all honors courses including the engineering program, Project Lead the Way. He is on the rugby team, the fall sailing team, and the robotics team at Spalding. He is a Life Scout finishing paper work for his Eagle Scout. He has taken National Youth Leadership Training and Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops. He lives on the Severn River and sailing is his biggest hobby. Seamus is excited to teach and help others learn to sail! This is Seamus's first year at EYC.|
|Instructor In Training||Adelle Marcichas been sailing for 5 year and first learned to sail at Maryland Yacht Club's sail camp. I started on Optis and am now sailing 420s and am also learning to sail on our family boat at Wednesday night races on Rock Creek. I will be a sophomore at Chesapeake High School in the fall and am taking Honors and AP classes, I am also on the indoor track team. I have experience as a Junior Volunteer helper and want help teach more people how to sail and am looking forward to my first summer at EYC.|
