We are happy to announce the addition of more boats to our RS Zest fleet.

We have purchased two new RS Zests to use along with our previous 4 for courses designed for ages 9-15 weighing 60+ lbs. We offer several levels of learn to sail including: Beginner/Seaman, Intermediate/Mate, Advanced/Skipper. These have replaced our Sunfish as the go-to boat for single handed dinghy in addition offering an optional jib and room for multiple sailors.

We recommend at least 30 hours (1 session) of instruction for beginners to master the fundamental skills.

  • Zest Seaman, Beginner, Ages 9-12 | 60+lbs

    • *Basic sailing a plus for ages 9-12.
      This course is for students with previous experience (at least Opti Mate) who are ready to step up from the Opti, or for older and/or larger students learning to sail. Focuses on basic learn-to-sail fundamentals in a larger single-sail boat with an emphasis on steering, sail trim, and building confidence. Sailors will be paired accordingly with solo opportunities.

      Session 9's offering is a mixed beginner course, offering both our Feva and Zest boat classes. Sailors will learn their initial skills on the boat class closest to their weight range, but will have the chance throughout the later half of the week to sail each boat.

      Session 1: June 10 - June 14
      Session 5: July 8 - July 12
      Session 9: August 5 - 9 || Combined class with Beginner Feva, sailors may swap boat types
       

  • Zest Mate, Intermediate, Ages 9-13 | 60+lbs

    • A continuation of the Zest Seaman class or Opti Skipper graduates who want the feel of more power! Sailors are grouped to improve boat handling skills at faster speed with more tiller time. Activities include course sailing, on-water games, fun races, long sails, and STEAM activities.

      Full Day: 9:30AM - 3:30PM   Full Day Costs: $525 / ($475 EYC Member) 

      Session 2: June 17 - June 21
      Session 6: July 15 - July 19

       

  • Zest Skipper, Advanced, Ages 10-15

    • *Must be proficient at solo skippering
      Our Skipper program is a continuation of the previous Zest/Sunfish Mate Course focusing on solo skippering advanced boat handling skills and an introduction to racing fundamentals.
