Ages 10-17 | Need beginner sailing experience || Currently posted as "Learn to Sail Keelboat" on the Amilia registration Website

This program allows juniors to 'learn the ropes' and explore sailing on a big boat platform, or apply small boat sailing skills to a new challenge. The curriculum highlights teamwork and introductory racing strategies in a fun social environment. Plenty of hands on tiller time, mainsail and jib trim, and symmetrical spinnaker handling. Our course will primarily utilize J22s to learn the basics of keelboat racing, but sailors will have the opportunity to sail on a variety of racing oriented keelboats. Exact classes of boats available for students will be updated here as they are confirmed.

Apart from the full week sessions we are offering, we'd like to offer the ability for Jr. Big Boat sailors to participate in our EYC hosted Friday Night racing series. Sailors will be able to participate in real local J22 racing under the direct supervision of two experienced keelboat instructors. All positions and tactical decisions (within reason) will be handled by students as we seek to provide them a guided learning environment. This class will only be run if sufficient registrations are met, please reach out to the Waterfront Manager if you are unsure about your sailors readiness or fit for the course as described.
