'Around the House' April 2019

I want to thank the wonderful volunteers who came and decorated our club – Cheryl and John Lecourt, Marguerite and Dan Starsoneck, Deb Bautz, Dale Schultz, and Glen Somes – they made the Commodore’s Ball a Starry Starry Night. The decorations were awesome. Thank You to Glen Somes and Deb Bautz for taking pictures. If you haven’t seen them they are posted on our Facebook page.
We had our annual St. Patrick’s Day Party. Thank You to Cheryl Cook for helping to decorate for this. We enjoyed watching the Irish Step Dancers and we had a special treat of listening to a bagpiper playing for us. Our own EYC member Dave Aland entertained us with Irish tales and songs.
We will have had our annual burning of our socks to celebrate the equinox and the first days of Spring. There is a box in the foyer for donations of packages of new socks to be donated to the Lighthouse Shelter. Let’s see if we can’t fill that up for those in need.
1970’s Speakeasy - Remember the Harvey Wallbanger, Tequila Sunrise, the Pink Squirrel, or Long Island Ice Tea? How about Saturday Night Fever? Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? It’s time to relive some iconic events and drinks, from the ‘70’s! Come and learn about the origin of many ‘70’s cocktails and which ones were featured in music and film. Join The House Committee and EYC’s own Cocktail Historian Mike Thompson on 30 March from 1600 – 1800 for a late afternoon of cocktail lore.
Yes, Vinnie, you can wear your white suit.
It will be a fun time and there could be a surprise or two. You don’t want to miss this great event. This is a reserved and limited seating event.
Our children’s Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 20. The Easter Bunny will be there for picture taking and the kids are going to be treated to something special after the hunt. Watch the bulletin board and the Newsblast for more details.
On Sunday, April 21, we will have our Easter Brunch. Reservations are recommended; walk-ins welcome with limited seating in the bar and open deck. I hope you have a wonderful Easter and you are able to spend it with family and friends. Happy Easter.
Have a good look at the calendar as we have frequent theme nights or events during the month that are not publicized - you just gotta look for them.
Reminder: the House Committee meets every month on the first Wednesday at 6:30 in the conference room. All are welcome to attend a meeting and see if you would like to volunteer on this committee.
Our next meeting will be April 3rd.
