Join old friends and make new ones with EYC on the Water. All EYC members and their guests are always welcome. Watch this space for news of adventures and upcoming events around the Bay and beyond.
July Activity: Chasing the Fireworks
This year’s itinerary included “Big Band Night” in St. Michael’s, Rock Hall and Baltimore with spectacular fireworks displays at every stop. We had nice turnout of EYC members with four boats in St. Michael’s, five in Rock Hall, and four in Baltimore.
Activities through the week (other than fireworks) generally revolved around swimming, eating, drinking and making new friends. Of particular note was the gin and tonic fueled Bocce Ball tournament at La Scala’s in Baltimore’s little Italy prior to a phenomenal meal that none of us will soon forget.
Northern Star and Cranberry II took honors for being out all week in spite of the heat and humidity.
Labor Day Weekend Cruise to Cambridge
Join us in this end-of-summer cruising highlight as we indulge in the Bay's bounty and explore one of the Eastern Shore's iconic towns. Slips are available at the Cambridge Yacht Club (410-228-2141) or the Cambridge Municipal Yacht Basin (410-228-4031). Please make your own slip reservations.
Those traveling by boat are invited to join us for dinner Saturday night as we enjoy the hospitality of Cambridge Yacht Club. Please RSVP by August 25 so you can be included in the group reservation.
The highlight of this weekend is always the Crab Feast at Clayton's on Sunday. This requires a separate reservation and is limited to 100 participants. It is open to EYCers coming by land or sea, and always sells out, so be sure to reserve early.
Facility tours start at 4:00 p.m.; Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. Also featured will be a presentation on the state of the Maryland crab fisheries from Bill Sieling, and a demonstration of crab picking by a professional picker – who will offer private instruction afterward on request.
Cost (collected at the door, cash or checks payable to CBSIA) is $35 per person including all the crabs you can eat, or $15 per person if you don’t want crabs (corn and watermelon only).
Each couple is asked to bring a 6-pack of craft beer to share and a side dish or dessert also to share. Contact Bob Clopp, email@example.com for more information.
Bob also is coordinating a “wrap-around” cruise starting August 30 at Herrington Harbor South and continuing on past the Cambridge stop to a grand finale in Baltimore on September 10. This is a “hop-on, hop-off” affair so participants can choose some or all of the fun. Captains are responsible for making their own slip reservations. Read more here.

2018 Concert Cruise
Last year’s edition of this event was the first time we tried it and it was one of the biggest hits of the year. Join us again this year for a “Sail-In” concert featuring the Eastport Oyster Boys September 8-9 in Shaw Bay.
Although this is the second year we’ve made this an EYC cruise, this will be the 16th year of the concert benefiting the Midshore Riverkeeper conservancy ($20 per boat suggested donation).
Plan on rafting up in the southwest corner of Shaw Bay (off the Wye River) about noon on the 8th. The concert begins at 4 p.m. and those who want to get closer to the stage can dinghy over to the “Slosh Pit.” Enjoy Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast with friends – on your boat or theirs.
Participate in EYC Cruising
Looking for more cruising? Got an idea for a cruise? This year, we had a number of spontaneous Pop-Up Cruises (day and weekend). So keep an eye on this page and watch your email. And if you want to coordinate one, contact any member of the Cruise Committee. Meantime, click here for a copy of our latest schedule.
Flotilla Fridays are a good way to stay in touch. Join us for happy hour in the EYC bar on the last Friday of the month, April through October, for some fun and fellowship, and to learn more about EYC activities on the water.
Participate on Cruising Committee: Meets monthly in EYC conference room 7:30 p.m., 4th Thursday of each month. All EYC members are welcome! Join the Cruise Group mailing list for the latest updates by email.
