Our waterfront location is a great place to get close to the Chesapeake Bay, but EYC offers plenty of ways to get even closer: racing, cruising, or just messing about on boats.

The EYC Race Committee provides access to events ranging from our own summer season Friday Night ‘Beer Can’ Series; the biennial Annapolis to Bermuda Ocean Race (A2B); the annual Leukemia Cup and several other charity regattas combining fun and fund raising; to local, regional, national, and even international championships. We support Junior Sailing with a strong learn-to-sail program and host many events with other local clubs. Individuals who don’t own a boat, yet want to get out on the water, may participate in many ways. There is always a need for crew on the Race Committee boats. Out on the water you can learn about sailboat racing from all angles. If you want to get out and race, but have never tried, the Fawcett Friday Night Racing Series is your starting ticket.

Our Cruise Committee activities start in early spring with the Blessing of the Fleet and move into a variety of fun cruises: cocktails & munchies, wine tasting, baseball games, concerts, and (best of all) gunk-holing on a warm summer night with a full moon and good friends. The cruisers are very active and are always looking for new places to go and things to do, and very often find them. When the wind blows chill on the Bay, activities move into the Clubhouse for seminars on maritime skills, convivial evenings of darts, trivia, or other games, and parties and pot-luck dinners with friends. Cruise Committee-sponsored events are always open to all EYCers and their guests; please feel free to join the fun!

Boating Programs

EYC on-water activities aren't limited to regattas and cruises, or even to adults. Our active Junior Fleet summer programs offer a range of opportunities for youngsters to learn the basics of sailing, and the club sponsors the Indian Creek School high school varsity sailing team in spring and fall.

But our Junior Fleet also offers adult learn-to-sail classes, powerboat training including Race Committee and safety boat essentials, and maintains the fleet of club watercraft available to members for use outside of formal programs. The Member Waterfront Access program allows members the use of paddleboards and sailboats including Sunfish and J/22s.

Want more information? Visit our Racing page, our Cruising section, go straight to the the Annapolis 2 Bermuda Ocean Race, or check out the Junior Fleet pages for opportunities for all ages to learn, or just enjoy being out on the water.
